Special Lecture organized by Dept. History in Collaboration with IQAC on the topic "Role of Mahatma Gandhi in Indian Freedom Struggle" on 10.09.2026

The Department of History, Sapekhati College, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a special talk on “Role of Mahatma Gandhi in the Indian Freedom Struggle” on 10 September 2026 at the Conference Hall.
The resource person, Sri Sushil Suri, Associate Professor, Department of History, Sonari College, Charaideo, Assam, delivered an insightful and engaging lecture. He discussed Gandhi’s emergence as a prominent leader of the national movement and elaborated on his role in major movements such as the Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement and Quit India Movement. He also highlighted Gandhi’s emphasis on mass participation, communal harmony, self-reliance and social reform.
The lecture provided students with a deeper understanding of the historical significance of Gandhian thought and its enduring relevance in contemporary society. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the resource person, organisers and participants.
