Special Lecture organized by Dept. of Sociology on the topic "Thinking Sociology: From the Perspective of 21st Century" on 3rd Sept, 2026

The Department of Sociology, Sapekhati College, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a special lecture, “Thinking Sociologically: From the Perspective of the 21st Century,” on 3rd September 2026 in the Conference Hall. Dr Birinchi Kr. Borah, Principal, HCDG College, Sivasagar, Assam, who served as the resource person.
Dr Borah elaborated on the relevance of sociological thinking in understanding the rapidly changing social realities of the 21st century. He highlighted the importance of developing a critical and analytical perspective towards contemporary social issues, technological transformations, cultural changes and emerging challenges. The lecture encouraged students to look beyond individual experiences and understand social phenomena within their wider social context.
The programme was attended by faculty members and students and proved highly informative and intellectually enriching. The lecture concluded with an interactive session.
